In our first project we started with 11 families. Maysoon knows them from her previous work at a school in Sana'a. Most families have a family member that works at the school as a teacher or concierge. When the war started their lives changed dramatically. They hardly ever get their wages paid. Therefore, families have little to no income. A little money and food is obtained by wangling and begging. There is certainly no money for other things such as clothing and electricity.
With a little help of our friends
In November 2021 we were able to provide the families with a food package due to the help of the WorldChangers Foundation.
Maysoon gave much thought into what the content of the food package should be. She insisted on buying qualitatively good stuff. The packages consisted of rice, oil, sugar, milk, cheese, white and whole wheat flour and dates.
On November 2nd our team member in Sana'a Waleed bought the food packages at a local store. He made sure every family had enough time to pick up the package at the store. For some families it was a long journey to the store so we strive to deliver the packages to the homes in future.
The families were all very happy with the content of the food packages!
The coming months and probably for much longer these packages are still very much needed. Our wish is to provide every family with a food package at least every two months, preferably every month. The Foundation is in close contact with them to ensure we are quickly informed when other basic needs need to be met, such as water, energy, clothing and education.
